Level 1 As you walk down the street of the city be sure to walk right up to each person you see. If they don't say anything to you, hit the "Enter" key and they might talk after that. The words appear in boxes--you don't hear them. Before you enter the "Brown Gatehouse" you will see a little bald man. Be sure to talk to him before you try to go in the gatehouse. To flip the switch in the gatehouse, walk over to it and then hit the "Enter" key on the keyboard. It will light up. After you leave the Brown Gatehouse turn right and continue on. When you get to the street evangelist be sure to jump up on the platform and grab the staff--it is your weapon against evil. Remember-try to talk to everyone you meet, because they may (or may not) point you in the right direction. You will need to find and collect the key to the Grey Gatehouse before you get there, then enter and flip the switch. When you come out of the Grey Gatehouse, the gate of the city will be open. There are two wolves guarding it. You can waste your ammunition on them, or run straight toward them and as soon as they start to leap at you hit the "Insert" key and leap over them and through the gate and keep running. The game should jump to the next level before the wolves catch you. Level 2 The Slough of Despond Be sure to save your game frequently on this level. As you leap from one stepping stone to the next--don't stop because they sink and you will drown. The only ones that don't sink are the ones that move back and forth. It is best to stay on a moving stone and shoot your staff at the demons ahead of you before you get to where they are standing. If you die and don't push the escape key right away (to reload your saved point) then you will automatically get a "Retry" screen. Push "Retry" and then push the escape key to load your game at the saved point instead of having to start the whole level over. Be sure to answer as many questions as you can at the Bible altars. (Stand in front of the Bible and push the "Enter" key). You can get up to 200 shots of ammo to take with you. They will not show up until you step away from the altar, but then you can step back and get more if you don't have 200 yet. Level 3 The Jungle This level is fairly easy. Just try to find a way to shoot all the demons, especially the large one, and then run down the stream to the left of where you first landed. Keep to the left and you should jump to the next level by the time you get to the end of the left fork of the stream. Level 4 Meadow Destroy the demons before you try to use the altar. If you have a clear space behind you, it is better to run backwards while you are firing your staff at them. After you collect all the ammo points you need at the altar, be sure to make the little fat man in the green hat talk to you, then turn and walk away and you should jump to the next level. Level 5 River of Lava Start along the path past the altar (unless you need some points) and look ahead of you for the tall humanoid demons. Stay as far back as you can to fire at them because if you try to run backwards here you may fall off the path into the river of lava (and die). When you hear and feel a rumbling on the path be sure to hit the "Insert" key constantly and stay up on the side of the cliffs until a huge rolling rock passes you. If you can't see it while leaping, wait until the sound fades a little and then land back on the path. The rock should already have passed you and fallen into the river. Keep going until you get to a rock bridge that goes over to an island of rocks. There is large rock monster guarding the bridge. Stay far back to fire at him. When he is destroyed, start across the bridge running. Head straight for the little man, but don't stop or the earthquake will kill you. Jump over him and keep running forward AND JUMPING at the same time and you should end up in a circle of rocks alone. Walk around and you should leap to the next level. Level 6 Attack Valley Collect your 200 points at the Bible altar and head down the path to the right of where you came in. As soon as you can see the two demons on top of the cliff start running and dodging their arrows. Leap over the first 3 demons on the path and then turn around and run backwards while firing at all the things chasing you (and there are alot!). Beware of the demon that comes in from the left while you're running backward. Talk to the guard at the gate as soon as you get there and keep trying to get through the gate as he talks. Hopefully your life points won't run out before he lets you in. (I have made it through the gate with exactly 0 points and still was able to leap to the next level) OR you can run around the valley trying to destroy all the monsters while making trips back to the Bible altar for more ammo points. (I've done that, too) Level 7 Dark Mountain/Valley (lots of wolves) (Your life points are automatically restored to 100) If you don't need ammo (from the Bible altar) right away, it is best to climb (walking and jumping) to the top of the hill and go in the house. (You may have to shoot the 2 or 3 demons who come after you first). After you follow your guide upstairs and listen to the man in the iron cage, be sure to collect the shining cross with the heart on it on the way back down the stairs (it's in the stairwell). From the top of the mountain you can walk around and look down on the surrounding valley where the wolves are waiting for you. They usually stand still until you either shoot at them or approach too close. One pack of wolves is guarding several of the heart crosses. The other pack will attack you when you try to use the Bible altar. (There is another heart cross for you at the altar). Sometimes you can leap up on top of the altar and fire at will until they are all destroyed, but you have to be in just the right position or your staff won't hit them. Even if you don't attempt to collect all the heart crosses or get Bible altar points, you can still run straight past the altar and around the mountain. On the left side of the valley you will see a cave/tunnel entrance. Run into it and you should jump to the next level. Level 8 Crucifixion Approach the angel beside Jesus on the cross and listen. You can walk around or not, and you will jump to the next level. Level 9 Castle on the Hill If you have alot of ammo you can destroy the monster and some of the wolves in the valley before you go in the castle. Don't go in the castle if any wolves are already running toward you. Destroy them first or they will follow you and kill you. Make sure you talk to all 3 people when you get in the door. After you receive your Armor of God, go upstairs and get points at the Bible altar. From now on you can only get 100 points. Don't forget to talk to the woman in the upstairs hallway. After you talk to her you will see a number in the upper lefthand corner of the screen. That is how many wolves you still have to destroy. It is best to save your game before you destroy the last wolf, because when you get in level 10 you will probably lose life points to Apollyon right away, and you may want to go back to this point and leap to level 10 again. Level 10 Apollyon (Giant bat demon) As soon as you land on this level start running left past the angel, making sure to jump from rock to bridge, etc. Jump and run or run and duck (press the "delete" key to duck) until you get to the rock with the Bible question on it. Step close and hit "enter" to push down the right answer lever. If you stay there more than a second or two you will get shot and lose life points. Continue on the next question rock and do the same, then turn around and run back to where the angel is. If you are able to duck down behind the rock with the Corinthians Bible verse on it and save your game without getting shot, do so, or you will probably have to start all over. Then run across to the other side and jump across all the large and small stepping stones until you get to the last question rock. Flip the lever and then try to save your game again without getting shot. Go back to where the angel is and pull the lever where the Corinthians Bible verse is and that will destroy Apollyon. WHEW! Level 11 Slippery Path As soon as you land here, you will have to destroy a flying bat or it will kill you. Then collect Bible altar points and head across the top of the ridge path. You have to jump often because you will be sliding down the sides of the path alot. When you come around any mountains be sure to look for more flying bats and get rid of them quickly. Eventually you will hear (see) someone calling for help. Find firm footing because there are many bats coming for you. It is a good idea to save your game after each bat encounter so you won't have to start this level over again. When you reach the end of the path at the cave, you will leap to the next level. Level 12 Vanity Fair A carnival with lots of worldly temptations. You don't have to talk to anyone here, and probably shouldn't anyway. As you try to pass the soldiers at the other side of the carnival, you will be arrested and taken to court and sent to prison to await being burned at the stake. Level 13 Prison Someone will come to rescue you. Follow him out of the prison and into the night. (You will see a martyr at the stake--it is the same person you rescued from the bats on the slippery path) Your rescuer will eventually tell you what to do, and when you do that you will leap to the last level. Level 14 Paradise You are standing at the water's edge looking across to the gates of Paradise. You have to cross the water (the River Jordan?). You may or may not die trying, but either way the angel should admit you to Paradise. There may not be a "Retry" option here, so save your game before you go in the water in case you want to do it over. The End C. Cherry
